Re: Onslow's Senior Mini Build
I wouldnt recomend solid mounts. Youll crack your flywheel cover and run risk of damage to sump. Off previous experiance... Theyll do more damage

Re: Onslow's Senior Mini Build
Agree with josh. Your not in a standard chassis mini which flexes. Its a solid chassis. Any vibration or shock will find the weakest part. Poly/standard engine mounts will flex and disperse the shock. Ive been helping with a national ministox which are faster than our seniors and that has standard engine mounts on it.

Re: Onslow's Senior Mini Build
onslow i use 2 standard engine mounts, a metro ruber mnt that goes round the starter motor and 3 engine steadies at the top off the engine, i would not use solid mnts

Agree with Stanny, a rubber is essential equipment when your sat in one of these beasts. I find a family pack is the best value, I'm pretty sure they'll do extra small for you.

"sat in one of these beasts" .... wtf? .... get a grip its a 1275 mini ! a mini!
Re: Onslow's Senior Mini Build
One solid mount is fine, just not flywheel side!!!! As already mentioned it tends to break flywheel covers on a very regular basis!!!!! Learnt that the hard way

Don't worry Glenn if extra small is too big for you then I'm sure they'll provide a rubber band to hold it in place.
Re: Onslow's Senior Mini Build
I know what gonagoslow is thinkin.. the extra power he has over you others will just tear the rubber ones in half.. and when ya flick it in, sideways, flat out, the engine will move on the rubbers, throwing 3 years of cornering weight calculations through the window..

Re: Onslow's Senior Mini Build
the mini engine mounts are c**p.best thing i found was a solid mount on rad side of the engine and drill straight through a standard one and put 10mm nut and bolt through it so when it splits it cant come apart on clutch side+metro mount on starter housing to subframe and a couple of engine steadies on top.had to drill hole in subframe or clutch housing or both for nut/bolt head to go through, cant remrmber it was a long time ago

Re: Onslow's Senior Mini Build
i used standard mounts, with plates stitch welded on the top & bottom of each mount, so insead of wrecking the alloy clutch housing it just sheers the metal, but makes the engine mounts strong enough to cope with nudging other cars out of the way, oh & a block of wood from the sump wedged into the front subframe to stop the bottom of the engine swinging forward.

Re: Onslow's Senior Mini Build

Re: Onslow's Senior Mini Build
Not sure now, I prefer solid mounts because as Shady said the standard Mini mounts are c**p. I would prefer to use solid all round but don't want to keep breaking clutch housings. I 've got two additional tie bars so am hoping nothing will move and as per Josh's comment use a piece of wood between the gearbox and subframe to stop the engine swinging forward.
